Hailing from France and the Netherlands, van Gelder Inc.’s founders Mariette and Sal van Gelder, brought with them a new perspective of flooring that had yet to catch on in the Americas.
They seized the opportunity to change the landscape of commercial flooring in 1978, by offering world-class needlepunch products designed to perform in areas beyond what was considered possible. In 2004, the Portico Systems brand was created to help expand vG’s footprint across the United States, working directly with national retailers.
van Gelder, Inc. prides itself in creating the highest-quality needlepunch flooring in the industry, along with a growing selection of flooring solutions for every environment. Our cutting-edge technology combined with personal, concierge service allows vG to provide unrivaled flexibility and industry-beating lead times. Plus, with our ever-improving selection, most every product meets or exceeds ECO and LEED recommendations.
With the second generation and partnership running the company, we strive to continue the legacy that was started over 4 decades ago. We remain true to our roots and morals and are inspired by our loyal and talented employees, customers and vendors on a daily basis. Always first class since 1978.
